Springing with joy with our
New Activities Team
Spring brings joy and renewed energy into our lives. Villa Alamar residents are enjoying the full benefits of our award-winning Sensory Integration Program in this great weather, all with the caring guidance of our new activities team. Please help us give a warm welcome to our Life Enrichment Coordinator, Mary Wheat and our Life Enrichment Assistant Julie Wilcox, as they recently joined our care team.
Mary grew up in Boston, Massachusetts where she was a ballet dancer and teacher and ran her own small business of dance programming. A dance injury necessitated giving up her dance career and the illness of her mother inspired Mary’s second calling in life: The care and companionship of seniors.
With a profound belief that senior citizens should be valued and appreciated, Mary runs our activities and events program building on the life experiences of each of our residents. She strives to provide fulfilling programming that is meaningful and beneficial for both mind and body. In her own words: It is my joy and honor to get to know each resident and help them share their wisdom and their stories.
Julie conducts our life enrichment program during the weekends. Having been in the insurance industry for over 20 years, she also works full time as Commercial Account Manager for a local insurance company.
Julie brings tremendous energy and compassion to our community. Her commitment to our resident’s well being can be felt in the air as you walk into the room and find them happily immersed in her programs.
Born and raised in Goleta, where she resides,
Julie enjoys taking long walks, reading books, and spending her free time with family: She has four daughters and three grandsons. Julie is also the mother of our beloved Resident Services Director, Yesenia Leon.
Villa Alamar is welcoming friends and family members of our residents for in-person visitation.
Residents are also permitted to leave the community for escorted outings, with precautions.
